It's been a while....

...but I have been sick. Seriously...sick....I was just browsing over the last blog entry, and that was indeed the start of my run of being sick. It all started around the Super Bowl, and with the sinus problems...it was all down hill from there. For those who don't know, I have been off and on sick for almost the entire month of February and some of March. I almost can't remember what it is like to be well again. I can't wait to feel normal for more than a week or two in a row....

Because of me being sick, February was a weird month. It was good, yes, but being sick really killed it for me. I don't know if I can ever top February for seeing good live music. It was almost an amazing run for me. I mean, how can you top seeing Broken Social Scene, Johnny Goudie and the Little Champions, ...And You Will Know Us By The Trail of Dead, Arthur Yoria, and Tody Castillo, all in one month? To me, all of the shows that I saw were pretty much great. I would have a very hard time having to pick one show over another. I wish that I could elaborate on all of them, but I guess too much time has past for me to back track and try to remember, and then try to write it up. Either way, they were memorable shows, and shows that are going to be hard to top, and only in the second month of 2009. I do want to try and make at least a local show a month, but we will see how that works out.

It has been a fun month and a half though, despite me being sick. A lot has gone down and good times have indeed been had, but I have to say that the highlight would have to be the news that we are going to have twins. I mean, let's be serious, how could that not the to top headline in my life? Hands down, right!??! Of course!! It's definitely something I, or Ruby, was ever expecting. It's so hard to try and express how I feel. I never in a million years pictured being a father of three children. It's a bit weird in a way. It's going to be fun....well, I know it's going to be pretty tough at first. I mean, the first year and change might the toughest part. Well, I don't know, maybe not. I guess only time will dictate that and all I can do is try my best.

I have gotten so use to it being the three of us right now, that it is a little sad (just a little) in some way to know that it is going to change. I guess, the close of one chapter and the start of a new one, right?! Man, if I thought with Raymond's arrival was a life changer, the twins' arrival is going to be 100 times more life changing than that. As I had said a few times before, this should be interesting.

I can only assume that the rest of the year is going to be preparing for the new arrivals, so with that, I can assume as well that this blog will only help in chronicling the progress of the pregnancy. I mean, that's gotta be a safe assumption, wouldn't you agree? Well, for now I will just leave it at that. I think that this was a huge step for me just trying to update this blog. Hopefully it gets the ball rolling. Here are a picture of two from the live shows that I attended (I hope they come out alright, and I hope you enjoy!). Super Sunday

Super Sunday is finally upon us! It's kind of like my holiday, or just a holiday in general for sport fanatics! Or is it just another excuse to pig out and get drunk? Well....that too, right!? Nothing wrong with that in my book.

I don't know what to make of this Super Bowl. The Steelers or the Cardinals? Man, this one could really go either way. I guess what I always tell everyone is that I hope that is a good game. It will be hard to top last year's game though. I guess it is a good sign that we have had competitive games over the last couple years. I hope that this one is too!

Well, it is the second day of my four day weekend...and my sinuses are freaking killing me. the left side of my nose and head are giving me problems. It started Friday afternoon too! Argh, it is so frustrating!! I held up ok on Saturday, but the evening and then this morning have been a bit bad. I am not worried about tonight though because I am going to drink myself numb, or at least I am going to try my best to. Man, this is like the second time that I am "sick" for the Super Bowl...what is up with that. At least I have two days of recovery after this...

On the menu for the game is going to be, a personal favorite of mine, fried turkey! Man, that bird always comes out so freaking flavorful. It is supposed to rain though, so us without any carport or cover at all, it will make for an interesting time to go outside and try to cook the bird, you know?! I think (errr, hope) that it will be fine. We also have some great potatoes that Laura is going to whip up too. Man, it is going to be good!

As for the Super Bowl spots, I guess that a lot of people look as forward to them as many look towards the game itself. I like a good ad I guess. Although, this Super Bowl is going to be chalk full of movie spots, to which I have seen four already via the internet. I have seen the G.I. Joe spot, the Transformers 2 spot, the Star Trek spot and the Land of the Lost spot. Yeah, I said it...the Land of the Lost, starring Will Ferrell. It made me laugh, a little. I don't know how this G.I. Joe movie is going to play out, but the spot looked half way decent. I mean, it looked to have plenty of action, but my gut feeling for this movie isn't good. Now, the Transformers 2 spot was sick. It was a teaser in every sense of the word. It was quick and made you want more. Looks like it could be a darker film than the first. I can't wait to see it in HD.

Well, I guess that is all for now. Depending how I feel tomorrow, I might chime in with some post Super Bowl thoughts....

later...

Whew!

Wow! I can't believe that it is Friday night already! The week flew by super fast. What happened? I can't even remember! Well, I am not complaining. I always look forward to the weekend, even if I just sit on my ass. I will take it, although, I will try to not do that too much!

This week was pretty much a blur. I had a dentist appointment and then three straight evenings of practice time. Mix in about 40 hours of work and some family time and you have an exhausted me! Man, January is pretty much done already too! It's crazy! Time is just moving too fast for my taste. I might have my hands full this weekend, if I actually get up to actually do stuff that is. Man, I really need to get out of this lazy rut I am stuck in. My goal is to finally get some crap done around the house....again, we will see about that...

I am feeling like I am going to finally get out of this lazy rut that I keep mentioning that I am in. There have just been little things that I am trying to be aware of. I am right at that edge, you know!? For one, I have Ruby's old bodybugg thing (that tracks your calories burned all day) and once we work out the activation bugs (no pun intended there) I will be on my way to making some changes on that end. I need to lose some weight. I have never weighed so much as I do now, and no, I am not sharing my weight with you right now. Maybe later....when I start dropping some pounds. I think that is a big key and a nice first step to get out of this rut. Maybe it is the weight that is making me lazy. Hey, it could be....

Another thing is that I am starting to read a little bit more. Maybe that is inspiration from all of the girls' Twilight obsession. I think it is, which is fine by me. I used to like to read. It keeps your mind active. These are two big things that are going to help me get off my ass....

Okay...now off of that subject. Johnny Goudie and I have been emailing each other throughout the week, which is always a treat for me. I guess the anticipation of his upcoming album is in the air. He is such a great guy and a talented artist. I wish him all of the success. I can't wait for his cd release show. It's going to be great fun! I just know it. (it's on 2/7/09 at Fitzgerald's in case you missed the memo)....

With January just about done, February looks to be a busy month with lots of going's on. Super Bowl, a couple of live shows here and there, another dentist appointment and Valentine's Day, and then March will pretty much be upon us (and gone too!). Man, where is 2009 going!?!? Crazy, I tells ya!

It's going to be pretty cold outside tonight....

Well, what is going on? Nothing much over here.

It's been a tough day for me. Work was pretty busy. It just seemed to take something out of me. I almost can't believe that tomorrow is Friday, but I am glad. I look forward to finally opening up some of the Shiner 100 and watching 24. You guessed it, I still haven't done either of the two.

Have you ever gotten sick of all the music you own? It happens to me from time to time, but right now it is pretty bad. Nothing is grabbing my attention right now, and I definitely can't seem to find anything new out that either. It just happens to me every so often. I will live. It just sucks. I makes like boring to me. I just have to make sure that I don't delete my music off the computer from frustration. Something's gotta save me soon...I hope....

Ruby's recent "Twilight" obsession hasn't subsided yet. In fact, not at all. I thought that after finishing the entire series...four big ass books in about five days, that it would be over. I was wrong. I was able to download a bootleg of it and we watched it on Saturday. It wasn't all that bad. I mean, it was decent. A little cheese at time, but then it moved on. We plan on going Saturday to catch it on the big screen. I knew that was coming. I was just surprised that the bootleg came first. I know that I would have rather caught a movie that I really wanted to see at the movies first...but that is just me. Now she has gotten access to the complete audio series of the books. I wasn't expecting that one. It's all good though. It's just weird to see Ruby going through what I might, or have gone through at various times on various movies over the years.......although, I don't recall ever depriving myself of sleep over something...at least, I don't think I have....

Other than that, Championship Sunday is approaching us. I don't have any preference on who really wins, but I personally think that a Pittsburgh/Philly Super Bowl has potential to me very entertaining. I wouldn't mind seeing Arizona shock the world and get in the big game. So, see?!? I told you I didn't have any preferences...we will see how the games play out...

Beach House grumblings have slowly started. Looks like all of the prices on the houses have gone up, some significantly, which should make things interesting....more on that later...

One last thing.....Raymond is learning the way of the force. (More on that later, or on another blog, on a different site - hint, hint...)

In case you missed it...

very well deserved....(and very well put by Mr. Nolan).....

Here I am again...

Well, just thought I would chime in really quickly again...

I didn't get to do yard work today. I had every intention, and actually went outside to try it, but it was a bit too windy and the temperature was dropping throughout the day. I mean seriously, it's pretty difficult to either rake or use a blower on leaves when the wind is blowing the leaves almost right back at you. This is what caused me to stop. Understandable, right!?

The two playoff games today were pretty great. Baltimore beat the Titans! How does that taste Titan fans? A Rookie quarterback got you guys at home. Awesome! It's not like the Titans didn't have the chances, they totally did. They just didn't capitalize. Then again, that it Ravens football. They stay close to you and jump all over your mistakes.

And the Cardinals? Are you serious? Holy crap! I can't believe I witnessed the Cardinals winning two playoff games in one season...and one of those games was on the road. Man, that was odd to see. They handled Carolina too. It wasn't really even a closely matched game.

These games went the way that I wanted them to go, but I had no idea it was going to play out like that, which is why I kept my opinion about them to myself. Hopefully tomorrows game are good.

Well, in case you didn't know tonight was the closest that the Moon was going to be to the Earth for the year 2009. I actually went outside to see it a couple of times. It wasn't anything spectacular really. I mean, it did look a little bit bigger than normal, but nothing that really stuck out if you didn't know, you know!? Still, it was nice to know and see it. I can be a little weird about stuff like this. I am the kind of person that likes to get stuck in the moment and just soak things in. I don't know. I liked looking up a the Moon tonight....

I did get the 100 year Shiner beer, but I have not broken into them yet. At this point (12:22 a.m.) I don't think that I will. Tonight I am drinking Longboad Island Ale, which is pretty good to me. So I am good for the night....

Well, off to another beer and channel surfing...unless...The Dark Knight happens to find it's way into the PS3...we will see...

Whatever....

Well, the holidays have come and gone and 2009 is here. The holidays were nice....different, but nice. New Year's Eve was a bit more mellow than in the past. Still, it is nice to get 2008 out of the way. It was just a different year.

I don't have a whole lot of news on a personal front, I guess that is why the blog updates have been very few and far between. I have had a couple of things swirling around that might make me update a bit more here in the coming days. For now, I just have a couple of quick hits about 2008....

First, the Texans had a disappointing season. They kind of salvaged it there towards the end though. Hopefully 2009 will be more like the 2008 season we all thought it was going to turn out to be.

I was trying to reflect back on top shows that I saw last year. It was hard for me to figure that out. The Russian Circles, The Burning Brides seem to stick out. I am sure there were other shows, but I have a hard time trying to remember exactly.

2008 had to be, without a doubt, one of the laziest years for me personally. I don't know what it was about it, but it just turned out that way. I am going to try and change that, and get off of my ass this year. I really am. I need to.

On another note, I didn't follow too much tv shows last year. I only say that now because I am glad to see Scrubs get some attention by ABC. It can be a funny show, one that I actually like. I need to catch the first two episodes this weekend. Having said that, I only have one thing to say about TV shows....."24"!! I hope that it is better that the last season. It seemed a little weak to me, which is one of the reasons that I skipped it....I am looking forward to it starting up this weekend....

Anyhow, I hope that this entry didn't seem too forced. I mean, it was a little bit (maybe it sounds all over the place?), but hopefully I can knock the rust off and have a better next entry!

Well, tomorrow is yard work and the quest to pick up the new Shiner 100 year anniversary beer that is rumored to be out! Yay!
